Scapes reconstructs the fragmented nature of memory and our emotional connection to an estranged homeland. Each piece is built from three individual photographs of the same location—taken from varying vantage points—and hung vertically flush against one another. The immersive scale envelops the viewer, creating a heightened physical awareness of the environment. Yet, the natural visual flow of the terrain is abruptly broken where the images meet. These disjointed seams act as physical metaphors for the gaps in our own recollections: the spaces where the reality of a place fades, and a new landscape is reconstructed purely in the mind.
