Lookout captures the tension between intimate shelter and external uncertainty. Documenting a nine-month period starting in the fall of 2008—just before Iceland’s economic crash—this compilation of 52 photographs transforms a simple observation of nature into an emotional journey through an unstable time. The images center on a protected family space, dominated by a window facing the outside world. Bound as a handmade, 5.2-meter accordion book, the physical object can be displayed fully extended to emphasize the elapsing of time and shifting weather. In this sculptural form, each fold creates a distinct "room" of its own, reflecting the intimate family space.
