The book "Lookout” is a compilation of 52 photographs taken over a 9 month period starting in the fall 2008, just before Iceland’s economic crash. What began as an observation of nature and dramatic changes in the weather became an emotional journey through an unstable time. The images display an intimate personal scene where a family is gathered and sheltered. Dominant in the space is a window presenting the outside world where, aside from subtle changes in domestic life, the seasonal changes are the main indicator of the passing of time. The handmade accordion style book is 5.2m long and can be displayed perched on a shelf, enhancing the dramatic changes in the weather and time elapsing . Each opening creates a “room” of its own, keeping with the intimacy of the book.
